This internship offers a unique opportunity to serve in a growing, faith-based ministry, making a meaningful impact in the lives of foster children and families through Christ-centered outreach.
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW. We are seeking passionate interns to join our mission-driven team, focusing on media content development, church engagement, and resource gathering for foster care ministry. This unpaid, volunteer-based internship provides hands-on experience and mentorship in a supportive, faith-based environment, empowering you to grow spiritually and develop practical ministry skills.
- Location: Based in Vacaville, CA, primarily online with flexible virtual meetings.
- Position Type: Unpaid Internship (Volunteer-Based).
- Duration: Flexible, choose between a 6-month (
180 hours) or 12-month (360 hours) plan, approximately 7–8 hours/week.
- Start Date: Flexible, aligned with your availability.
- Supervision: Weekly 30–60 minute virtual check-ins with Scott Tuttle or ministry staff.
- Tools: Google Workspace, Canva (or similar); no advanced software required.
- Evaluation: Regular reviews at key milestones (3 months for 6-month plan, 6 months for 12-month plan).
WHAT YOU'LL DO. As an intern, you’ll engage in impactful tasks that support our mission:
- Media Content Development: Create inspirational social media posts, short videos, or blog articles to raise awareness about foster care and share our mission.
- Church Engagement: Support the creation of foster care interest workshops for churches, including drafting materials and developing outreach strategies.
- Resource Gathering: Research and compile resources for foster families and churches, such as support services and training programs.
- Ministry-Based Projects: Develop a project tailored to your passions, such as a church resource kit or a podcast series, to support our mission.
INTERNSHIP PLAN. Choose between a 6-month or 12-month internship plan, designed to fit your schedule and spiritual goals.
6 MONTH PLAN (7 Hrs a Week)
- Months 1–2: Orientation & Skill-Building (~30 hours)
- Explore our mission via www.fosterhopefamily.com and Facebook.
- Align tasks with your passions through supervisor meetings.
- Research California foster care needs using CDSS.ca.gov.
- Create 3–5 social media posts and outline a content plan.
- Objectives: Understand the ministry’s heart and mission; build foundational skills in social media outreach.
- Flexibility: Adjust hours based on availability; adapt tasks to your experience level.
- Months 3–4: Social Media & Outreach (~60 hours)
- Develop a 3-month social media plan with faith-based messaging.
- Produce a 5–10 minute video podcast episode on foster care topics (e.g., church involvement, family support).
- Create 8–10 social media posts or video clips.
- Objectives: Strengthen skills in creating inspirational media content; grow confidence in ministry-focused outreach.
- Flexibility: Focus on planning or video production based on your strengths; use free tools like Canva; adjust schedule as needed.
- Months 5–6: Resource Gathering & Ministry Project (~90 hours)
- Research resources for California counties (e.g., Solano, Sacramento, Napa) using CDSS.ca.gov or county websites.
- Compile a resource guide for foster families and churches.
- Develop a ministry project, such as a church resource kit with workshop materials or tailored media content.
- Support ongoing social media or resource updates.
- Objectives: Build research and resource curation skills; create practical tools for churches.
- Flexibility: Adjust project scope with supervisor; focus on key counties; flexible scheduling.
- Wrap-Up (End of Month 6, ~10 hours)
- Finalize social media plan, podcast episode, resource guide, and ministry project.
- Reflect on spiritual and ministry growth with supervisor.
- Objectives: Consolidate learning; celebrate contributions to the ministry.
- Flexibility: Adjust hours to meet 180-hour goal if needed.
12 MONTH PLAN (7-8 hrs a week)
- Months 1–3: Orientation & Foundational Ministry Work (~90 hours)
- Explore our mission via www.fosterhopefamily.com and Facebook.
- Align tasks with your calling through supervisor meetings.
- Research California foster care needs using CDSS.ca.gov.
- Create 5–7 social media posts and develop a 6-month social media plan.
- Begin a podcast series (2–3 episodes, 5–10 minutes each) on foster care topics.
- Objectives: Deepen understanding of the ministry’s mission; grow skills in faith-based media outreach.
- Flexibility: Adjust tasks based on experience; flexible scheduling.
- Months 4–6: Social Media Expansion & Resource Gathering (~90 hours)
- Refine and implement the social media plan, focusing on church and foster family engagement.
- Produce 10–12 social media posts or video clips, aligned with ministry values.
- Research and compile foster care resources for California counties (e.g., Solano, Sacramento, Napa).
- Create a preliminary resource guide.
- Objectives: Enhance media outreach skills; build a foundation for resource curation.
- Flexibility: Prioritize tasks based on strengths; adjust county focus.
- Months 7–9: Ministry Project Development (~90 hours)
- Develop a comprehensive ministry project (e.g., a church resource kit with workshop materials or a media series).
- Integrate social media and resource findings (e.g., include county-specific resources in the kit).
- Support ongoing social media or resource updates.
- Objectives: Apply skills to create impactful ministry tools; deepen church-focused outreach experience.
- Flexibility: Customize project scope with supervisor; adjust hours for project completion.
- Months 10–12: Project Finalization & Ministry Impact (~90 hours)
- Finalize the ministry project for use by churches or foster families.
- Produce additional podcast episodes or social media content to promote the project.
- Update and expand the resource guide with new findings.
- Reflect on spiritual growth and ministry impact.
- Objectives: Deliver meaningful tools; reflect on personal growth in faith and service.
- Flexibility: Adjust tasks to meet 360-hour goal; focus on high-impact deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A heart for foster care, faith-based ministry, or community outreach.
- Basic skills in content creation (e.g., writing, social media, or video editing) or a willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to commit to approximately 7–8 hours per week (flexible schedule).
- A desire to grow spiritually and serve in a Christ-centered ministry.

DEPT OF LABOR COMPLIANCE. This internship adheres to the U.S. Department of Labor’s FLSA guidelines for unpaid internships (Fact Sheet #71, January 2018). It is unpaid, with no expectation of compensation or entitlement to a paid position upon completion. The internship is structured to provide training and experience for your benefit, under close virtual supervision, and without displacing regular employees.
